In September, Hurricane Dorian struck the Bahamas, leaving parts of the islands devastated and leaving thousands without food or shelter.
Soon after the hurricane hit, Papa John’s franchisees John and Simone Wilson of local franchise PPJ Bahamas, Ltd were planning a hurricane relief event in partnership with a Bahamas based non-profit HeadKnowles and a relief group from the U.S. called the Damours group.
In a joint effort with all organizations, Franchise Business Director Rob Porter and Southeast Division Vice President Bobby Meroney partnered alongside John Wilson and his wife Simone to provide product from Papa John’s International to serve more than 600 pizzas to hurricane victims during two relief events.
John, his wife Simone and their team members from stores #12140, #12366 and #12516 helped direct and manage both events as well as serve pizzas to hundreds of victims and their families.
One couple vacationing in the Bahamas was so inspired by the efforts of our team members that they wanted to assist John and his team with the relief event.
John said the events were a great success as they were able to provide a meal for so many families, volunteers and first responders.
In a time of devastation, our Papa John’s family generously stepped up and supported those affected by the tragedy. Thank you to John and Simone Wilson, Team PPJ Bahamas, Ltd. and all our team members who did the right thing and helped provide relief to those in need.
