[+] What is a widget?
The term "widget" has become rather broad in identifying small computer applications that perform a specific set of functions. There are Branded Desktop Applications (BDA) that stand alone just like most other computer programs. Desktop widgets (sometimes called "engine-driven") rely on a back-end program or the computer's operating system to function. Start Page modules work on the personalized internet launch pages of portals like My Yahoo! and iGoogle. And there are embeddable web widgets that can be placed on blogs and social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace.
Most widgets either deliver a small piece of specific information or dynamic links to other information. This includes news, weather, shortcuts to websites, etc.
[+] Why did Papa John's build this widget set?
Building on our continued online success, we built the Papa John's widgets to extend the value of www.papajohns.com to our customer's desktops, as well as reward widget users with some additional capabilities. Our goal is to better serve our customers.
[+] Why are there so many versions?
Papa John's wants to service all of our customers as best we possibly can. This includes giving them the option to interact with us when, where, and how they wish to do so. No matter what kind of computer, what operating system, what start page, or what social networking site they prefer, we will be happy to provide them with a Papa John's widget.
[+] Which widget is right for me?
Most users probably already have a specific start page or widget engine they prefer to use. As a general rule, start page module are more robust than embeddable web widgets, and desktop widgets are more robust than start page modules. The BDA has most functionality of all, but also requires a little more processing power since it is a full, stand-alone application. No matter which widget you choose, they will all get the same access to e-deals and Favorites as well as special offers for widget users only.
[+] What is required to use the Papa John's widgets?
- A personal computer running either Windows ME, 2000, XP, or Vista, or a Macintosh running Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard).
- Internet Connectivity - preferably broadband since all widgets get their eDeal and Favorites information online.
- A www.papajohns.com account is required to use Favorites.
[+] The Order Online Widget is asking me for my address and ZIP code. Why?
The Order Online Widget needs your address and ZIP code to retrieve the latest eDeals from your nearest Papa John's location. This information is not used for any other reason. Once you enter your address, you will see eDeals offers load in. Depending on your location, there can be as many as 12 eDeals. You can order any eDeal by clicking on its button in the widget - you will then be taken to Papa John's Online Ordering site where you can complete your order.
If you want the widget to remember your address, make sure the 'Save My Location' checkbox has been checked.
[+] I'm getting an error message. Why?
Occasionally, the Order Online Widget will display an error message - here is a brief guide to the most common errors:
"77200" - no eDeals found
What it means:
The Papa John's nearest to your entered address does not have any eDeals available. You can still continue to use the widget.
"66420" - Bad Address - "Sorry, entered address could not be validated."
What it means:
Check to make sure the street address info you submitted is valid - this error is displayed when the entered address does not match any in our database.
[+] The Order Online Widget doesn't seem to be receiving any information. Why?
The Order Online Widget needs to connect to our web server to receive the latest favorites and e-deals and display them. An internet connection will need to be running so that it can access this information. After you go online, The Order Online Widget should automatically try and access the latest information.
If you have a personal firewall, such as ZoneAlarm, it may be preventing The Order Online Widget from downloading updates. You should enable access to the Internet for The Order Online Widget.
If you are online and you still do not receive the latest information in The Order Online Widget Screen, we may be having a problem with our web server, in which case you may need to wait until our server is back online.
A lack of new information may also mean that The Order Online Widget is encountering network problems and will get the latest information as soon as the network problems are resolved.
[+] The Order Online Widget keeps waiting for a server response, and showing a spinning pepper.
You may see this if our webserver is busy. If it is, a message should appear asking you to try again later. The best thing to do is to close and re-open the widget or refresh the page it is on and see if the problem continues. If it persists, we are probably performing maintenance on our servers. Try checking back later - the chances are you'll find everything working correctly in a short time.
[+] When I click a link that opens a new page, two browser windows or two browser tabs open instead of one.
This issue has been reported by some Windows users of Internet Explorer and Firefox. We are currently working on a fix for this, but in the meantime, simply close the duplicate page or tab and continue as you normally would.
[+] How do I load my Favorites into the widget and order them?
Once you add the widget, you must log in to the Papa John's Online Ordering website so that the widget can retrieve your Favorites information from there.
When you first click on the Favorites button, you will be asked to log in to to the Papa John's Online website. Clicking on the 'Login' button will open your browser to the Widget Verification page on the website. (If you have problems opening your browser from the widget, a link will be available that you can copy and paste into your browser window).
Once you have entered your Papa John's account information into the Widget Verification page, you will be instructed to close your browser and return to the widget to click on the 'Continue' button found there. (If you do not have a Papa John's account, you can set up one up from the Widget Verification page). You will only need to login once in order to view your Favorites in the widget. By default, the widget will keep you logged in to your Papa John's account. However, if more than one person with a Papa John's account wishes to use the widget on the same computer, you may choose to uncheck the 'Keep Me Signed In' checkbox that appears in the widget after you first log in. When you do this, you will be prompted to log in each time you choose to visit the Favorites section. This way, more than one person using the computer will be able to log in to the Papa John's Online website to retrieve their Favorites.
After you click the 'Continue' button in the widget, you will be taken to the Favorites area, where you will find buttons for each of the Favorites you've created at Papa John's Online. You can then click on any of the buttons to start ordering your Favorites through Papa John's Online. You can have a maximum of four Favorites set up.

Why do I need to click a widget link multiple times in order to open a page in MySpace?
In order to open a browser window to the Papa John's Online website from the Papa John's widget placed in a MySpace page, it's not as simple as just clicking a button in the widget. This is because as of this writing, MySpace places limitations on how Flash objects send data from the MySpace platform as a security measure. All external links from the widget are blocked from requesting webpages found outside of the MySpace platform. Because of this, external links from the widget must be placed outside of the Flash portion of the widget. This is why you'll see the button at the bottom of the widget reading 'Open Link'. When you click on a link button within the widget, the widget will instruct you to click on the 'Open Link' button in order to open a new webpage.
Once you click on the 'Open Link' button, MySpace will warn you not to enter your MySpace information in the page you requested by clicking the link. Don't worry, we're not interested in your MySpace information - the only information we would need is your Papa John's account info if you want to retrieve your Favorites from our website so you can access them from the widget.
