Training Program #1
YMCA Official Training Program
The official training calendar starts in early January. It is important to prepare your body for the 16-week training season so please be prepared with a base of 3-4 miles 3-4 times per week. The Triple Crown Training Team is for everybody. You do not have to be a YMCA member to participate. The team meets every Saturday from early January through the last race in April at a designated location for a group run.
The cost of the training program is $40 for YMCA members and $75 for non facility members. The fee includes a special Triple Crown of Running Training Program technical shirt for all participants. In addition, non facility members will have access to the YMCA and its facilities on Saturdays after the training runs during the 16 weeks.
Is the Triple Crown Training Program for you? The YMCA suggests individuals interested in joining the training program run an average of 2 to 3 miles, 2 to 3 times a week.
For more information about the YMCA of Greater Louisville, please visit their website at www.ymcalouisville.org.

Since 2010, the world-renowned Louisville Stoneware Company has provided a one-of-a-kind trophy to be awarded to the male and/or female who wins all three of the Triple Crown runs/walks. Gnoc Phan's trophy creation, which is displayed at all three race packet pickups, adds to the excitement of the series for all the participants and race directors.
Then, in 2013, the famous pottery artists approached the ever-growing race series with another unique idea from the owners of Louisville Stoneware: award plates for the individual race winners in the male, female and wheelchair divisions. These stunning plates will also be on display at the packet pickup locations alongside the overall winner trophy.
For more information on Louisville Stoneware and its lengthy, rich, artistic tradition in the Derby City, go to www.louisvillestoneware.com.
