How much does it cost to build a Papa John's Franchise?

An average unit of 1200 – 1400 square feet (approx. 120-140 square meters), located in a strip center, costs approximately US $225,000 – $275,000. This amount will vary depending on the size of the unit and the geographical area. Please review the Franchise Disclosure Document for more information and our current incentive program which may reduce the initial investment.

What is the standard franchise fee?

The initial franchise fee for a standard Papa John's restaurant is US $25,000.

What is the standard royalty fee?

An ongoing royalty fee of 5% of net sales is due on a monthly basis.

What are the marketing and advertising fees?

Papa John’s requires that a minimum of 7% of net monthly sales be spent by each international franchisee for marketing purposes, as follows:
– 6.5% is spent on local marketing, and
– 0.5% is paid to a global marketing fund.

What are the minimum financial requirements?

Papa John’s international development agreements generally require a franchisee to build and operate a minimum number of restaurants in a particular geographic area within a period of three to seven years. This requires prospective franchisees to have a substantial net worth and cash availability position. We generally require a minimum US $2,000,000 net worth under our multi-unit development agreement with additional minimum requirements for liquid/cash assets.

Does Papa John's provide training?

Yes, we provide initial training for the operator of 6-8 weeks. In addition, we continue to provide ongoing training for your operator and team.
